August and Everything After
For our seven-year anniversary, Ryan took me to San Antonio! Sure we'd been there before, but without kids it was like visiting another country. The sky's the limit when you are not worried about anyone jumping off the boat at the Riverwalk.

A romantic stroll. Could this place get any more beautiful?

We ate dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, which turned out to be a little more family friendly than we had anticipated...

Talking tree

Scary alligator looming beneath the staircase

We stayed at the Hotel Contessa with a great view of the Riverwalk-and entire city as we were on the 12th floor. I think it was my first full night's sleep since we started potty training circa Valentine's Day 2008.
Absolutely love the landscape along the riverwalk

the vibrant colors

the architecture

(While we were shooting a boat full of people came by and I heard their river guide say, 'All the married men, don't look to your left.' So of course the entire boat rubbernecks and there I am, the only human in view. So Ryan takes a picture of them!)

Whose idea was it to bring home ~two flutes~ for your ~two four-year olds~? The same person who suggested a yellow polka dot cardigan and sparkly earrings for this lady, so I can't complain. And even though this morning my ears were threatening to bleed, Ryan says L & M show excellent clarinet promise! Here I am playing a musical number for San Antonio himself.
The trip could not have been possible without the help of James & Lonna, who have the equivalent of three kids themselves, not to mention Heather & bf, who held down the fort and endured many hours of pudding and Barbie Rapunzel. You know it's a great feeling to miss your kids...but it's also a great feeling to get them back, happy and exhausted. Happy August Ryan, I can't believe it's already been seven years!

I am so glad you had a great time! and you got to get away, that makes it even better. I agree with you, San Antonio is a lovely place.
I love the river walk! It is so beautiful. How fun to get out just the two of you and sleep!! Happy 7th anniversary.
How much fun! Spencer and I are planning a getaway for October, and this made me even more excited!
Oooh, thanks for the preview of the Riverwalk. I can't wait to take MY lover (Meg) there. If the flutes ever get to be too much, you can always bring the girls to my place. I welcome noise.
I am so glad that you had a great time, and that you were able to get some sleep, and probably eat a meal that was still hot as you ate the whole thing. I almost remember what that was like.
I love the photos that you took, and I am glad that you were able to do a little shopping and running around while you were there. Sounds and looks like so much fun.
Here is to you and seven years of marriage. Look how far you have come, and how fast you are closing in on 10 years. Wow.
I'm glad you had such a good time. I love the River Walk, it is a beautiful place. Congratualtions on 7 years.
