The Family Who Cried Wolf
For any of you who have known us longer than 6 months or so, here are the places we may have told you we're moving: Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Amarillo, Arkansas, Boston, anywhere in the U.S., are there any others? All of them were valid; at some time or another we were offered positions there by Ryan's work--or we were applying for new jobs trying to escape where Ryan's work wanted to relocate us (Amarillo, anyone?).
And this last one was no exception.
Except it went through.
Folks we are moving to Austin, Texas!!! Ryan has applied for, been offered, and accepted a new job as product manager for an employer in Austin that re-vamps failing businesses. Ryan's two weeks are in, his start date is set (Jan. 28th), we've met with our realtor in an effort to sell the house, and we are frantically de-junking in preparation to move. Ah, moving, we meet again.
We realize some of the locals may not be able to read the rest of this if your computer short-circuits when drenched in tears, and though we will miss everyone in Utah very very very much, here are some of the reasons we're excited.
*Ryan also found a master's degree program at the University of Texas (in Austin) he is interested in. We are now in the process of applying, which his employer fully supports and even prefers.
*On the same day we got the offer from Ryan's new job, his old job informed him they would be moving his position to Amarillo. The irony!
*It's about time we moved outside of Utah while the girls are young and we are fairly transient.
*We have a lot of family members in Austin and in visiting we have fallen in love with the city.
*Austin will be a great place to pursue hobbies for both of us- I can't wait to get my violin studio up and running, and Ryan will be able to finally immerse himself in filmmaking.
That's all the details we know for now. I keep practicing saying, "moving to Austin, moving to Austin." It doesn't quite slide off my tongue yet, but eventually it will, as I learned circa 2004 when I had to practice this little catch phrase--"pregnant with twins."

Congrats. to all of you. I hope things will move along quickly for you. Austin is a great place, I have to say that since I was born there!! ;-) We will miss you guys like crazy, but we know that Austin will be just as good to you as Utah was. We love you all, and take care of yourselves!!

Wow! How exciting. Speaking as one who has lived in 4 states since being married for two and half years. We were SO SO excited to move out of Utah and live on our own. It will be such a good experience for you. Do you think you'll ever get back to utah?
you forgot to mention the best news of all: Heather is coming with you!! i am going in to talk to my professor tomorrow. i'll let ya know! meanwhile...if you need help packing up things at all please call me.
If you are going to move, I'm sure glad it's a place you're both excited about--thank heavens for blogging right? But I hope you know I will be more demanding on how frequently you update! :)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! We are so sad to hear that you are leaving, but what a great opportunity for your whole family! Best of luck with the move and relocation process, I hope it goes smoothly! We are going to miss you, but at least we can keep track of you guys with your blog and email. What would we do without computers? :)
I believe that the proper response to your news would be, YEE HAW!!! I know what everyone else is feeling and thinking. And I know that it is a long way away to be moving, but we sure are excited to have you coming. So chin up and get ready to party. Oh and I am also excited for the girls to get to know each other better. Maybe together we can tackle the whole potty training thing. Just a thought.
I am excited for the summer, the pool the sno cones, the BBQ, honestly I could go on forever. I am really happy to have a friend/family member moving out here. I am counting down the days.
Well sheesh! I think there's enough family down there to merit a move to Austin for us too! Congratulations to Ryan on the new job. I love what I've seen of Austin.
I sent this clip to Ryan to express my feelings.

It not the exact clip i wanted but Arrested Development watchers will understand.
Doug that is perfect! It sums up our feelings when we think about leaving you.
all I can say is, if you would have told me this a year ago, I would have let my husband talk me into moving there.
I have been though, and it is a great city. The music scene is awesome, lots of bars and clubs, if you want a night out, and it's nothing like Texas.
Shoot, I'm kinda jealous right now.
You should still come back to Utah to take Book 2 with me....
Leslie Congrats! Omgosh, I do not know what Heath will do without you! Wow, I didn't know you taught violin! Amazing! We will sure miss you!
No tears here! We're glad you're moving to the Promised Land :) God Blessed Texas, ya know! hahaha. Can't wait for y'all to get here :) We can have some Suzuki jam sessions!
