Perfect Day for a Toboggan

Maddie gears up in her Y beanie...(Can you guess who gave it to her?)

Florescent radioactive orange, our color of choice.

We had all of Barlow park to ourselves (of course, it was named after us!)

Ryan made me pull for the steep hills!

This one was Londie's idea, I swear!

And L & M make their getaway, leaving me in the dust.

Christmas 2007

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Despite the snow, we were able to see both families on Christmas and make it back in time for Ryan to work on the 26th. The girls had a sad, sad time watching Grandma and Grandpa Barlow take down their tree yesterday--wish us luck, that's on the agenda for today. (They still haven't come to terms with Halloween being over.) And I'm not sure why I keep doing slide shows when I haven't mastered how to put captions on. Oh well, you know the drill, click on the picture.

We've Been Robbed! (Part 3)

My goodness were the weathermen correct about this storm. L & M timed several 'get these out of the house immediately' diapers in a row with the start of the storm. Start meaning what can only be described as part hailstorm/part micro-burst. Neighbors Christmas decorations flying everywhere! Naturally, I made Ryan take the trash out and he ended up with a scratch on his eye from the sharp hail. The weather quickly turned into what the news described as "snow thunder." I have never experienced anything like it! There was lightning and loud thunder, only it was fiercely snowing! Here we are watching the action safely from the window.

And later on... the shape we found our yard in. Yes, the snow thieves are at it for the third year in a row! I will never forget the first winter we moved here I looked out the window and said, "Hey, it snowed everywhere but our house." Yes, our yard was the only green lawn in the state of Utah that day. It wasn't hard to follow the footprints to the ginormous snow men, formations, and forts the next door neighbor kids had built.

Exhibit A, the igloo/snow dragon. I might as well enjoy it, it's our snow!

Take that! Ryan and I built a snowman using what snow we could salvage. For the head? A ball that one of our neighbors never bothered to retrieve from our yard...probably not the same neighbors, but still. And that is a little story about how we finished off our snow.

December Bedtime Routine

L & M are very careful to make sure Christmas Moose and Christmas Bear get their teeth brushed. They even lend a toothbrush, and sing the abc's the way we do with them.

Then it's time to say goodnight to the Christmas tree. First a bear hug (complete with a bear growl).

Then a kiss...

And always, "Night night, Kissmas tree!"

And we settle in for a long winter's nap.

A Few of My Favorites

We got more than a few Christmas Mo Tab CDs from Ryan's work and I am loving every one of them. It really is all about the Christmas music.

It appears I am the only one in this house not grounded from hot chocolate, and so here is what I am drinking these days.

Snowstorms. Winter has officially started here and it's about time. Ryan spent Saturday morning with the twins outside building a snowman. I wish I could have been there but I was enjoying one of my other favorite things, sleeping in.

I love these shoes. I have to have them. They match every outfit I own.
At least that was the start of my letter to Santa....Maybe I'll find them in my stocking this year. And I can only hope Santa will foot the bill.

Tangerines, nectarines, mandarines, who cares what they're called, I eat them like candy.

And speaking of candy...

Chocolate cinnamon bears, could there be anything better? My sister-in-law introduced me when I was pregnant with the twins and the cravings have never ended. I saw that the BYU bookstore is selling them in bulk...27 lbs. How long would that last me I wonder?

Oh Where Oh Where Have L & M Gone?

A couple of days ago we woke up to find two puppies in the place of our little daughters. L & M have been walking around the house on all fours, barking, eating food off the floor, and giving me sloppy puppy kisses when least expected. If you happen to ask them a question, the answer will be something like "Ruff! Yes." or "Ruff! No." The funniest part about it is they will come up and ask "Want to hold a puppy?" And who could resist those little puppy eyes? I think we'll let them stay.

Why London Is Grounded From Hot Chocolate....

So it went a little like this...spill, walk, slip, spill some more, walk, slip on that spill, repeat, repeat. The whole kitchen turned into a makeshift ice skating rink by the time her mug was empty, while I followed behind trying to clean up! I was laughing so hard I was crying. We'll try sippie cups next time.
